Hemming & Everyday Alterations

The clothes you wear most, fitted the way they should be

Most of what fills a closet was cut for an average body, not yours. Trousers an inch too long, jeans that bunch at the ankle, a blazer that fits at the shoulder and nowhere else, a blouse that pulls across the back. None of it is an occasion piece — and that is exactly why it matters. These are the clothes you wear every week.

Hemming is the heart of this work. Pants, jeans, dresses and skirts, finished to the shoe you actually wear — and on jeans, the original hem kept, so the fade and edge stay where they belong. Rejane brings the same precision to a pair of work trousers that she brings to a wedding gown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you keep the original hem on my jeans?

Yes. A standard hem cuts off the bottom of the leg, and with it the fade and worn edge that make the jeans yours. An original hem takes the length out from above the cuff and reattaches the original edge, so the jeans keep their character at the new length.

What should I bring to a hemming appointment?

The garment, and the shoes you plan to wear with it. Trouser length depends entirely on the shoe — a hem pinned against flats will be wrong with heels, and a dress trouser pinned in sneakers will be wrong with dress shoes.

What types of garments can you alter?

Jeans, trousers, skirts, dresses, blouses, shirts, blazers, jackets, coats, uniforms and costumes, for women and men. If it can be worn, Rejane can assess it — and if an alteration will not give you a good result, she will tell you before any work is agreed.

Do you make clothing from scratch?

No. We alter, repair and restore garments you already own. We do not make new garments to order. For suits and formal wear, see our Men’s Alterations and Gala pages.

How does a fitting work?

You bring the garment and try it on so Rejane can see how it sits on you. She pins and measures, explains what needs to change, and confirms the details before any work begins. Every visit is in person, by appointment only.
