Before Your Visit
What to Bring to Your Fitting
A fitting is only as accurate as what you are wearing when the pins go in. Bringing the right pieces means the alteration is measured for the way you will really wear the garment — and fewer surprises on the day.
For every fitting
- The garment itself — and, if it has one, the belt, sash or detachable piece that goes with it.
- The shoes you will actually wear with it — required at every fitting. Hem length is measured against the heel, so a different shoe means a different hem.
- The undergarments you plan to wear. A different bra or shapewear changes how a bodice or waist sits.
Wedding dresses & bridesmaids
- Your wedding-day shoes, at every fitting. We cannot set a bridal hem without them.
- The bra, corset or shapewear you will wear on the day.
- Your veil, belt or any accessory that sits on the dress.
- A photo of the look you have in mind, if you have one.
- Your wedding date. Every wedding dress needs at least two fittings, so please book at least four weeks ahead.
Gowns, prom & black-tie
- The shoes and undergarments for the event.
- The event date.
- For a tuxedo: the dress shirt and shoes you will wear with it.
Suits & trousers
- The dress shoes you will wear — trouser break depends on them.
- The belt, or tell us if you wear braces.
- A dress shirt, so sleeve length can be set against the cuff.
Pants & jeans hemming
- The shoes you wear most with that pair — sneakers, flats or heels.
- Tell us if you want to keep the original hem on your jeans.
Repairs & restoration
- Mark the damage with a safety pin, so small holes are easy to find.
- Anything you know about the piece — its age, the fabric, how it has been cleaned.
- For heirlooms: how you hope to use it — to wear again, or to keep.
Not sure what applies to your piece? Call or text (941) 549-2015. Every garment is assessed in person, and the assessment is complimentary.
